Rs 10 Lakh Reward Announced for Information on Recent Killings in Jammu and Kashmir
In a determined effort to combat the recent targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir, the newly-appointed police chief RR Swain has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for individuals providing information related to these crimes. The killings involved a police constable, a non-local laborer, and a critically injured police inspector. RR Swain, the Director General of Police, emphasized that those responsible for supporting terrorists in any way would be dealt with stringently.
Three Recent Targeted Killings
The recent spate of violence in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the targeted killing of Head Constable Gulam Mohammad in Wailoo Uralpora, Pattan, a non-local laborer named Mukesh Kumar in Trumchi Nowpora, Pulwama, and an attack on Inspector Masroor Ali in the Eidgah area of Srinagar. Inspector Ali is in critical condition.
Director General Swain’s Resolve
RR Swain expressed strong resolve in investigating these cases and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He stated that substantial progress has been made in solving these three cases and urged the public to come forward with information to aid the investigations.
Leadership Change in Jammu and Kashmir Police
RR Swain took over as the 17th Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir, succeeding former DGP Dilbag Singh. Swain, a 1991 batch IPS officer, has held various significant positions in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, bringing extensive experience to his new role.
