Doda, November 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh, serving as the Chairman of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), recently conducted a comprehensive review of the JJM implementation in the district. The evaluation took place during a meeting of the Jal Shakti Department (JSD) held at the DC office complex.

During the meeting, the DDC scrutinized the progress of JJM schemes on a project-by-project basis and issued specific directives along with timelines for implementation.

It was reported that a total of 185 projects, with an estimated cost of Rs 748.31 crore, have been tendered, allocated, and are in the execution phase in the district under JJM. The primary objective is to provide safe drinking water to households through tap water connections.

Additionally, one out of the two sanctioned Rapid Sand Filtration plants has been allotted, and work on three out of the five sanctioned Borewell projects has commenced.

The Chairman of DWSM (DDC) was apprised that out of the target of 111,216 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) aimed at providing safe and adequate tap drinking water to all households in the district, 82,452 FHTCs have been completed. In response, the DDC has urged the engineering teams to expedite the completion of an additional 1,000 FHTCs by November 15th, adhering to the previously established timeline.

Furthermore, the Senior Executive of Jal Shakti Department (SE JSD) has been directed to personally monitor the daily progress of all schemes under the prestigious JJM. The SE is tasked with ensuring that all projects are completed within the specified timeline and in accordance with the highest standards of quality.

To facilitate this, the SE is required to submit a Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) Chart for all schemes.Addressing the issue of re-tendered Slow Sand Filtration plants, Borewells, and Rapid Sand Filtration plants, the DDC has emphasized the immediate allocation and commencement of work within two days for successfully tendered projects.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Doda Suresh Kumar, Senior Executive of Hydraulic Circle Doda Anil Gupta, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, and other relevant officials.
