Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar on Thursday, Athawale hinted at the possibility of this significant political development aligning with the upcoming elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jharkhand.
Athawale highlighted the progress in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and the formation of the Union Territory. He commended the people of J&K for their enthusiastic participation in the recent Parliamentary elections and urged them to maintain this momentum in the anticipated assembly polls.
“I congratulate the people of J&K for voting in large numbers in the Parliamentary polls. J&K is progressing well, and record-breaking voting should take place in the assembly elections,” he said.
The Union Minister also made an appeal for peace and unity, stressing the importance of democratic participation as a means of ensuring continued development in the region.
He encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers when the elections are announced.
In addition to these announcements, Athawale, who is also the president of the Republic Party of India (RPI), revealed that his party intends to field 10-15 candidates in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
