Rainfall/Flashfloods Mexica: Jammu-Srinagar Highway and Mughal Road Shut For Traffic; SSG Road Clear for Vehicular Movement
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Mughal Road and Sinthan Road remained closed on Thursday due to inclement weather and restoration work, even as the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road is open for traffic as per advisory, officials said.
An official from the Traffic Department said that efforts are underway to restore connectivity on the affected routes. “Jammu-Srinagar NHW, Mughal Road and Sinthan Road are still closed. Restoration work is going on. People are advised not to undertake journeys on these roads till the restoration work is completed,” the official said.
The department appealed to the public to avoid travel on these routes and not to pay heed to rumours. It added that traffic is moving smoothly on the SSG Road in line with the advisory already issued.
Travellers have been urged to confirm the latest status through the official Twitter, Facebook and Traffic Control Unit (TCU) helplines of the Jammu Kashmir Traffic Police before starting their journeys. …. AGENCIES
