Rahul Gandhi Affirms Unity in Opposition INDIA Bloc Amid Mamata’s Independent Poll Decision
Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, expressed confidence in the unity of the opposition INDIA bloc in addressing nationwide injustice, following TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee’s decision to contest Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal independently. The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ led by Gandhi, entered West Bengal from Assam through Bakshirhat in Cooch Behar district, where State Congress president Adhir Chowdhury warmly welcomed him.
In Cooch Behar, Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of spreading hatred and violence nationwide, emphasizing the INDIA bloc’s commitment to fighting against injustice. Mamata Banerjee’s decision to go solo in West Bengal elections had caused a stir in the opposition bloc, prompting a conciliatory approach from Congress, with spokesperson Jairam Ramesh emphasizing Mamata Banerjee’s integral role in the INDIA bloc.
The CPI(M) and Left parties are expected to join the yatra, while the TMC has chosen to abstain, citing a lack of information. The Bengal leg of the yatra covers 523 km across six districts and six Lok Sabha constituencies over five days.
The yatra, which commenced on January 14 in Manipur, is set to cover 6,713 km in 67 days, passing through 110 districts in 15 states before concluding in Mumbai on March 20.
