Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Stands Firm with Kejriwal Amid Arrest
Amid ongoing protests by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for Kejriwal, stating that they stand by him “like a rock.”
ED Labeled as BJP’s ‘Political Team’
Labeling the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as the “political team” of the BJP, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized that Kejriwal’s thinking cannot be suppressed, as it represents an idea that AAP staunchly upholds to counter BJP’s politics.
Punjab minister Balbir Singh vowed to challenge the authorities through legal means, indicating a multi-pronged approach to resist what AAP perceives as oppression and vendetta politics. AAP leader Malvinder Singh Kang announced protests in Mohali against what they term as vendetta politics and an attempt to prevent Kejriwal from campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Nationwide Protest Planned by AAP
Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai announced a nationwide protest against Kejriwal’s “illegal” arrest by the ED, signaling a confrontational stance against the BJP. Rai asserted that the arrest marks the beginning of a battle against the BJP’s attempts to suppress opposition voices.
Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) comes after the Delhi High Court refused interim protection to him in connection with the excise policy case. Two senior AAP leaders, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are already in judicial custody in the same case.
