In its ongoing fight against drug abuse, Pulwama Police have made another breakthrough by arresting a suspected drug peddler and recovering a significant quantity of contraband from his possession.
According to a police spokesperson, a team from the Litter Police Station, while on patrol, intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Naseer Ahmad Mir, son of Gulam Muhammad Mir, a resident of Chakoora.
Upon searching him, the police recovered 57 kilograms of a cannabis derivative, commonly known as Ganja.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transferred to the Litter Police Station, where he is currently being held for further questioning. Authorities believe the seizure of such a large quantity of drugs is a major step towards curbing drug trafficking and usage in the region.
The police have registered a formal case under FIR No. 74/2024, invoking relevant sections of the law related to drug possession and trafficking. The investigation has been launched to determine the source of the drugs, as well as any potential connections to larger trafficking networks in the region.
This incident is part of a broader initiative by law enforcement agencies in Pulwama to combat the increasing drug problem, which has affected various parts of the Kashmir Valley.
The police have vowed to continue their efforts to rid the community of narcotics and have urged citizens to assist them by reporting suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
The police spokesperson assured the public that the department remains committed to cracking down on illegal drug activity and ensuring a safer, drug-free society.
