PTI Voices Alarm Over Bushra Biwi’s Health, Accuses Regime of Medical Aid Denial
Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), has raised serious concerns about the well-being of his wife, Bushra Biwi, alleging a “serious threat” to her life. The party claims that the current regime in Pakistan, which they label as “illegitimate” and “fascist,” is obstructing her access to necessary medical assistance.
Concerns for Bushra Biwi’s Health:
Bushra Biwi, aged 49, is currently confined at Khan’s Bani Gala residence following a 14-year jail sentence handed down by an accountability court in the Toshakhana corruption case. Imran Khan, 71, is serving his sentence at the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. Both have also been convicted in the Toshakhana expensive gift case and the iddat case, which declared their marriage as un-Islamic.
PTI Alleges Denial of Medical Aid:
The PTI, through its legal coordinator Mashal Yousafzai, asserts that Bushra Biwi’s life is under threat and she urgently requires medical attention. Yousafzai claims that the party’s concerns are based on reports that Bushra was given harmful substances, causing intense pain and resembling acid in her food. The PTI accuses the Pakistani regime of maliciously attacking Imran Khan’s wife and denying her access to necessary medical aid.
Petition to Islamabad High Court:
Bushra Biwi has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court on February 6, challenging the authorities’ decision to designate her residence as a sub-jail. She requests to be moved to Adiala Jail due to “potential security issues.” The legal coordinator and spokesperson for Bushra, Mashal Yousafzai, emphasized the urgency of a medical check-up for her, given the perceived serious threat to her life.
In a pinned post on PTI’s official handle, they express outrage over the conditions in which Bushra Biwi is kept, calling it a “gross injustice.” The party calls for intervention by higher courts, condemning what they see as the regime’s fear-driven and low tactics against the opposition leader’s family.
Social Media Outcry and Political Turmoil:
The party, through social media, brings attention to the alleged mistreatment of Bushra Biwi, stating that the regime in Pakistan is resorting to such measures out of fear. This incident further intensifies the ongoing political turmoil, with Imran Khan and PTI previously accusing the establishment of stealing their mandate in the general elections, leading to massive protests across the country.
