Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken legal action against the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for its recent demolition of the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad. Leaders Omar Ayub, Shoaib Shaheen, and Amer Baloch filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, challenging the legality of CDA’s actions. The PTI chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, condemned the demolition, stating that it violated the sanctity of the party’s central office.
The CDA defended its actions, citing illegal construction and encroachment on the land near the plot allotted to PTI. Despite issuing notices to PTI, the CDA proceeded with the demolition, prompting PTI to file the petition. PTI officials criticized the CDA for initiating the operation at night without prior notice, leading to the arrest of PTI leader Amir Mughal.
The confrontation between PTI activists and Islamabad authorities resulted in arrests and the sealing of PTI’s central office. The party has vowed to address the issue in the assembly, signaling further tensions between PTI and CDA.
