Rampur (UP): In a shocking turn of events, students from a private school in Rampur took to the streets, staging a protest outside a local police station. Their grievance stemmed from a disturbing incident where a police officer reportedly assaulted the mother of a former schoolmate and allegedly coerced her into retracting a case concerning the kidnapping and harassment of her daughter. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, resulted in swift action by the district administration.
Outrage Sparks Administrative Response
The protest unfolded against the backdrop of a deeply troubling situation. A Circle Officer, the Station House Officer of Milak Police Station, and two constables found themselves removed from their positions in the wake of the incident. Furthermore, the outpost in charge, identified as Ashok Kumar, has been suspended pending further investigation. These administrative actions reflect the gravity of the allegations and the need for a thorough inquiry.
Traffic Chaos Amidst Demonstrations
The protest outside the police station created a chaotic traffic situation in the vicinity, disrupting the daily lives of residents. The mother of the 12-year-old girl at the center of the controversy recounted a harrowing ordeal, accusing several policemen, including Ashok Kumar, of invading her home and subjecting her and her daughter to physical abuse. The mother described how she was slapped multiple times during the encounter, and her clothing was torn in the process. Moreover, she claimed that her family was under immense pressure to withdraw the case.
Legal Proceedings Unfold
The alleged incident that triggered this series of events revolves around a case registered by the woman on Tuesday. She accused two teenagers of forcibly taking her daughter on their motorcycle, leading to the filing of charges under IPC sections 354 (criminal force with intent to outrage modesty) and 363 (kidnapping). Both of the accused teenagers have been detained as the investigation continues to unravel the truth behind these troubling events.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Sansar Singh, emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “We have removed the SHO, Circle Officer, and two constables while the police outpost in charge Ashok Kumar has been suspended.” Furthermore, he added that an additional district magistrate will conduct a thorough inquiry, and if it is established that the woman was indeed manhandled, FIRs (First Information Reports) will be filed against those found responsible.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of accountability within law enforcement and the need to protect the rights and safety of every citizen. As the investigation unfolds, the community and the nation await justice for the alleged victims, with hopes that such incidents will not recur.
