In a public gathering in Damoh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress general secretary, criticized Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, accusing the state government led by the BJP of creating only 21 jobs in the last three years. She emphasized that despite having degrees, the youth were struggling to find employment.
Gandhi highlighted that India currently faces the highest level of unemployment in 45 years, and the Madhya Pradesh government, which has been in power for 18 years, has been ineffective at job creation. She also mentioned that Public Sector Units (PSUs), which could generate employment opportunities, have been handed over to industrialist friends, further exacerbating the problem.
She took note of the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam in Parliament, which promises 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislatures. However, she expressed doubt about its implementation, suggesting that it might not be enforced in the next 10 years.

The Congress party has already announced its candidates for all 230 seats in the state, making this election a significant political event. In the 2019 elections, the Congress emerged as the single largest party in the state with 114 seats and a 41.5 percent vote share. However, the party lost power to a rebellion led by Jyotiraditya Scindia, who has since become a Union Minister in the Modi government.
