Polling Staff Car Accident in Gulabgarh Reasi, 2 Dead
A Tata Sumo carrying polling staff met with an accident in Lad Gulabgarh area of Reasi district, resulting in the death of two persons. The driver and a policeman died on the spot in the accident, while the presiding officer had a miraculous escape.
According to sources, the polling staff was being transported to Gulabgarh in connection with the second phase of the assembly elections, when the Tata Sumo lost its balance on the way and plunged into a deep ditch.
Immediately after the accident, a rescue operation was started with the help of local people and police. The bodies of driver Javed Ahmed and police constable Ejaz Khan, who died in the accident, have been recovered, while other injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
The presiding officer suffered minor injuries and miraculously survived. Meanwhile, the police took notice of the incident and registered a case and started investigation.
