
Police Station Bakshi Nagar Registered First Ever e-FIR of Jammu Division
Jammu, 28.02.25: In an innovatory move towards digital policing, Police Station Bakshi Nagar has registered its first electronic First Information Report (e-FIR) following a complaint lodged via WhatsApp. The complaint was filed by Nishant Kohli S/O Narinder Kohli R/O Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on 26-02-2025 evening in between 07:00 to 08:00 pm when he parked his Tata ace auto outside JMC office Bakshi Nagar. When he came next morning, to his surprise somebody has stolen his auto’s battery.
He was busy somewhere in household chores, therefore, he could not came to police station Bakshi Nagar to lodge FIR. He further informed SHO telephonically that he had attended one awareness program at Resham Ghar on new criminal laws by SDPO City West Jammu and SHO Bakshi Nagar, where it was said that FIR can also be lodged through e- mail and WhatsApp messages.
In response to the complaint, Police Station Bakshi Nagar swiftly registered the e-FIR, marked as FIR No. 30/2025 under Sections 303(1)BNS of PS Bakshi Nagar. This move underscores Sub Division City West’s commitment to leveraging digital platforms for efficient, people-centric approach and timely grievance redressal.
