Piyush Singla Drives Data-Driven Education Innovations in Jammu and Kashmir with Vidya Samiksha Kendra

Secretary of School Education, Piyush Singla, conducted a thorough review today of the progress made in establishing the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) in Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing its alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the initiative aims to facilitate real-time monitoring of projects and activities under the Samagra Shiksha program. Singla highlighted the utilization of data and technology to significantly enhance learning outcomes.

Singla underscored that the creation of VSK is an innovative project initiated by the Prime Minister and is being replicated nationwide. The VSK will comprehensively cover data related to schools, students, and teachers, enabling meaningful analysis through big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He emphasized the importance of a monitoring dashboard, data analysis-based Call Management Utility, and the reporting system within VSK to foster a conducive ecosystem in the Education Department.

Singla emphasized that the VSK will streamline decision-making and implementation processes, making it easier to analyze areas requiring attention. By ensuring accountability among field-level staff, administrators, and Heads of Departments, the VSK will monitor the real-time status of various project components under the School Education umbrella.

The Secretary urged the implementing partner to ensure deduplication of data across all fronts. He reiterated the integration of student enrollment tracking, progress monitoring in learning levels, mainstreaming out-of-school children, textbook delivery, and support for teachers and schools with VSK. Singla announced a target for the state-of-the-art facility to be operational by February 2024, marking a significant milestone in modernizing and streamlining the education system in Jammu and Kashmir.

In addition, Piyush Singla revealed a specific timeline for establishing the Command-and-Control Centre (VSK) in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming for full operational status by March 1, 2024. He outlined plans for digital attendance recording and the implementation of a School Management system for the digital admission process starting from the new academic session. Efforts will also be made to consolidate all schools onto a single dashboard. Singla anticipates that the Command and Control Centre will enhance efficiency, communication, and data management, ultimately contributing to an improved educational experience for both students and educators.

Project Director of Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj, briefed the Secretary on VSK, describing it as a data repository powered by Swift Chat AI (Artificial Intelligence), enabling technology and data-driven systemic change in all schools across Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Anu Behl, Joint Director Planning Parshotam Kumar, DD Planning Bilal Rashid, and other stakeholders from the empaneled firm.
