In a tragic incident on Monday, a 59-year-old pilgrim, Chandra Bhan, lost his life due to a cardiac arrest at the Baltal base camp during the Amarnath Yatra. Chandra Bhan, son of Barli Ram and a resident of Patiala, Punjab, was on a sacred journey to the Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir when the unfortunate event occurred.
Incident Details
The incident was reported by an official to the Kashmir Scroll news agency. According to the official, Chandra Bhan fell ill suddenly at the Baltal base camp. Despite efforts to provide immediate medical assistance, he could not be revived.
The cause of death was determined to be a cardiac arrest. The base camp at Baltal, located in the Ganderbal district, serves as a crucial starting point for pilgrims undertaking the arduous trek to the holy Amarnath cave.
Medico-Legal Formalities
Following the confirmation of Chandra Bhan’s death, necessary medico-legal formalities were conducted. The authorities ensured that all required procedures were completed efficiently. The body of the deceased was subsequently handed over to his legal heirs. This step was taken to facilitate the performance of last rites according to the family’s customs and traditions.
