
Panchayat Tanta’s Road Connectivity Crisis,A Stark Contrast to Government Claims

Doda /July 11/ Despite the Central and State and State governments’ claims of ensuring road connectivity throughout Jammu and Kashmir, the harsh reality on the ground paints a different picture. In Panchayat Tanta, Tehsil Kahara, District Doda, a staggering 99% of the population remains without road connectivity, crippling their daily lives and hindering progress.

A resident namely Bashir Ahmed from Panchayat Tanta in Doda district say that Panchayat is facing significant challenges due to lack of proper road connectivity, affecting over five thousand residents. The area is approximately 70km from the district headquarters in Doda. Despite the challenges, there are ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure in the region .The lack of road connectivity severely affects students’ access to education, while parents struggle to commute for work, healthcare, and other essential services.
Nazir Butt a resident of Panchayat Tanta, highlights the significant impact of road connectivity on literacy rates in the area. Prior to 2012, the literacy rate was alarmingly low at 2%, likely due to the lack of reliable road connectivity. However, with the upgrade of High School Tanta to Higher Secondary, there has been a notable improvement in literacy rates.

The residents of Panchayat Tanta urge the administration and political parties to prioritize road connectivity in the area. Specifically, they demand the completion of the Tanta Draman Via Kuthal road, which was sanctioned five years ago but remains unfinished. It’s essential for the authorities to work together to address this critical issue, ensuring that the residents have access to basic necessities like education, healthcare, and economic opportunities .
