Former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, backed by the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) chief Mahmood Achakzai, representing the Sunni Ittehad Council, have formally entered the race for the upcoming Pakistani presidential elections scheduled for March 9. The nomination papers were submitted to the Islamabad High Court.

In a dual effort, Zardari submitted two nomination papers, one each in Islamabad and Karachi, highlighting the strategic approach of his candidacy. The Pakistan Senator Farooq H Naek presented the papers, with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the proposer and Senator Farooq H Naek as the seconder.

Dual Submissions and Strong PPP Support

Zardari’s nomination was further bolstered in Karachi, where key figures like Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Members of Pakistan National Assembly supported his candidacy. The nomination papers were submitted to the Sindh High Court Chief Justice Aqeel Abbassim, with Murad Ali Shah proposing and Nasir Hussain Shah seconding the nomination.

This collaboration adds a significant layer of backing to Zardari’s candidacy.
