Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Leader Sardar Latif Khosa Joins Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
Sardar Latif Khosa, a prominent figure in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has announced his decision to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), citing the wishes of PTI’s founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan. In a press conference held in Lahore, Khosa emphasized that his choice to align with PTI was made in the interest of the nation and democracy, pledging to advocate forcefully for truth and justice.
Expressing his commitment to PTI, Khosa stated, “I have dedicated my services to PTI and made this decision freely.” Refraining from discussing personal gains or losses regarding his departure from PPP, he highlighted the importance of following the constitution for the nation’s prosperity and stability.
On December 4, Khosa, also a member of Imran Khan’s legal team, confirmed that he was invited by Imran Khan to join PTI, urging an end to what he described as the ‘oppression’ faced by Imran Khan, currently detained in multiple cases since August.Khosa emphasized the significance of upholding the constitution, attributing the idea of Pakistan as a separate nation to Barrister Muhammed Iqbal and its realization to Muhammed Ali Jinnah.
He stressed the role of the armed forces not only in safeguarding borders but also in aiding the state during emergencies like floods and ensuring security during elections. With the upcoming general elections slated for February 8, Khosa underscored the nation’s anticipation for fair play among political parties, urging the judiciary to ensure a level playing field.
His decision to join PTI comes amidst a series of departures from the party, including Pervez Khattak, Asad Umar, and Shireen Mazari, following riots triggered by Imran Khan’s arrest in a corruption case earlier in the year.Previously suspended by PPP over his defense of PTI’s leader without party approval, Khosa’s move to join PTI signifies a significant shift in Pakistan’s political landscape.
