OMG: Mumbai Police Save Man from Suicide After Interpol Alert; Man searched, “the best way to commit suicide”
The Mumbai police successfully intervened to prevent a 28-year-old man from taking his own life after an alert from Interpol indicated that he had been searching for information on “the best way to commit suicide” on Google. The man, originally from Rajasthan, was located and rescued in suburban Malvani, thanks to his mobile number provided by Interpol.
Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, issued the alert, prompting Unit-11 of the Mumbai police‘s crime branch to launch a rescue operation. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the man had been grappling with personal difficulties, including his inability to secure his mother’s release from jail in Mumbai, where she had been incarcerated for two years in connection with a criminal case.

The man had been unemployed for the past six months, and his depression deepened due to his mother’s situation. He began searching for ways to end his life online, which ultimately triggered the Interpol alert. After tracing his location, the Mumbai police arrived at the scene, took him into custody, and provided counseling by professional counselors.
Following the intervention, the man was advised to visit his relatives in the city. This case underscores the importance of mental health support and timely interventions to prevent self-harm or suicide, particularly in situations where individuals may be struggling with personal challenges and emotional distress.
