Omar Accuses DPAP of BJP Support; Azad Counters NC
Omar Abdullah, the National Conference vice president and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has accused the BJP of undermining communal harmony and alleged that Ghulam Nabi Azad’s DPAP is helping the BJP in splitting secular votes in the region.
Abdullah campaigned for INDIA bloc candidate Choudhary Lal Singh in Ramban district. In the Udhampur-Kathua constituency, Congress’ Lal Singh is competing against BJP’s Jitendra Singh, with DPAP’s G M Saroori also in contention. Abdullah criticized DPAP for fielding a candidate only in Udhampur, accusing Azad of supporting BJP’s agenda. He expressed disappointment in Azad, noting that the National Conference had backed him, but he chose to align with the BJP.

On the other hand, Ghulam Nabi Azad criticized both the National Conference and Congress for dividing the secular vote in the Chenab Valley during a public meeting in Kishtwar. He accused them of exploiting and misleading the public, questioning their contributions to the region over the past decade.
Azad urged the public to be wary of parties that use them for political gain and highlighted the failures of Congress’ leadership. He criticized the NC and other regional parties for neglecting the self-rule and autonomy agendas, accusing them of manipulating people’s sentiments.
Azad reaffirmed DPAP’s focus on development and peace, emphasizing their dedication to infrastructure development. He assured that their candidate, G.M. Saroori, would prioritize people’s issues and advocate for their interests.
Lastly, Azad stressed the importance of voting based on performance rather than religious or caste considerations.
