Elderly Woman Allegedly Killed by Son in Rafiabad, Baramulla
In Rafiabad, located in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a tragic incident unfolded where an elderly woman was reportedly murdered by her own son, according to officials on Monday.
The deceased, a 48-year-old from Hadipora Sopore, whose name has not been disclosed, was allegedly assaulted with a knife by her son, causing severe injuries. Despite efforts to save her by rushing her to Sub-district Hospital Sopore, she was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital.
After the incident came to light, the police swiftly responded, arresting the suspect identified as Amir Farooq Wani at the scene.
An official stated that a case has been registered under FIR number 28/2024, citing relevant legal sections, and the investigation is underway. Additionally, the weapon believed to be used in the crime has been confiscated from the location.
