Nuvama Wealth Management’s Debut and Stock Performance
Nuvama Wealth Management, formerly known as Edelweiss Securities, marked its entry into the Indian stock market on Tuesday, September 26. The newly spun-off entity, Nuvama Wealth Management, saw its shares being listed at ₹2,699.00 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and at ₹2,750 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

This downturn in its stock price led to some fluctuations in the market.

Prominence on Dalal Street
Nuvama Wealth Management now holds the distinction of being the third listed wealth management company on Dalal Street, following the footsteps of Anand Rathi Wealth and 360 One WAM. It’s important to note that the market capitalization of 360 One WAM and Anand Rathi Wealth stood at ₹18,419 crore and ₹7,117 crore, respectively, at the time.
Ownership Structure
Following its listing, Edelweiss Financial continues to maintain a 14% stake in Nuvama. Meanwhile, the shareholders of Edelweiss Financial now hold 30% of the paid-up share capital of Nuvama Wealth Management. The majority stake of 56% in the company is held by PAG, an Asia Pacific-focused alternative investment firm. PAG’s involvement in Nuvama Wealth Management dates back to 2020 when it acquired a stake in the wealth management division of Edelweiss Financial Services. This strategic move eventually led to the demerger and listing of the wealth management business, now known as Nuvama.
Diverse Range of Services
Nuvama Wealth Management stands as a comprehensive financial services provider, offering a wide array of services including wealth management, asset management, and capital markets services. The company’s client base spans across affluent individuals, high-net-worth individuals, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, as well as corporate and institutional clients.
The Nuvama Group’s Scope
The Nuvama Group now encompasses all companies within the Edelweiss group, which was originally founded by Rashesh Shah in 1993. However, it’s worth noting that the insurance and mutual fund businesses have been excluded from this consolidation. The group’s primary focus is on wealth management, asset management, and capital markets, positioning itself as a significant player in India’s financial landscape.
