    The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the commencement of simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, with voting scheduled for April 19. Separate gazette notifications have been issued for elections to 60 assembly constituencies and two Lok Sabha seats in the northeastern state.

    Election Process Underway

    Following the issuance of the notification, the process of filing nominations has commenced, with Joint Chief Electoral Officer Liken Koyu confirming the initiation of the nomination process. The last date for filing nomination papers is March 27, scrutiny will take place on March 28, and the deadline for withdrawal of nominations is March 30. The current state assembly’s term is set to end on June 2.

    Electoral Arrangements and Statistics

    Arunachal Pradesh boasts a total of 8,86,848 electorates, including 4,49,050 female voters, 5,740 service voters, and five third-gender voters. The state has 2,226 polling booths, with special provisions made for booths managed entirely by women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Additionally, the state has identified polling stations in shadow areas, critical, and vulnerable locations.
