Nitish Kumar Resigns: JD(U) Severs Ties with Mahagathbandhan
Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) national president Nitish Kumar made a significant political move by tendering his resignation to Governor Rajendra Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan in Patna on Sunday. The purpose of the resignation, as communicated to the Governor, was the decision to sever ties with the Mahagathbandhan in the state.
Speculations of NDA Reunion: A Shift in Political Dynamics
The resignation comes amidst widespread speculations that Nitish Kumar is poised to rejoin the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), potentially bringing an end to the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ rule in Bihar. If this materializes, it would mark Nitish Kumar’s fourth instance of switching political alliances.
Social Media Sparks Political Ripples: Rohini Acharya’s Critique
The unfolding political drama was set in motion by a social media post from Rohini Acharya, daughter of former CM and RJD chief Lalu Yadav. In her post, she took a dig at JD(U), labeling it a ‘socialist party’ that claims progressiveness while exhibiting ideological shifts with changing wind patterns. This online critique added fuel to the already intense political landscape in the state.
The current composition of the Bihar Assembly, with 243 seats, reveals the RJD holding 79 MLAs, closely followed by the BJP with 78. JD(U) has 45 seats, Congress 19, CPI (M-L) 12, CPI(M) and CPI with 2 each, and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) with 4. Additionally, two seats belong to the AIMIM and an Independent.
Rohini Acharya’s Defiant Stand: Fight Against Communal Forces
In a subsequent post, Rohini Acharya reiterated her commitment to the fight against ‘communal forces,’ declaring that the struggle will persist until their last breath. The social media statements have not only triggered political ripples but also intensified the ongoing narrative in Bihar’s dynamic political landscape.
