Nine Dead in 24 Hours Due to Lightning Strikes in Six Bihar Districts
Patna ( Bihar): Nine individuals lost their lives in the past 24 hours, as lightning struck in six districts of Bihar according to officials on Saturday.
The lightning deaths were reported from Jehanabad, Madhepura, East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul districts.Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the death of nine people due to lightning and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to each of the deceased’s family members.
A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Saturday detailed that Jehanabad saw three deaths, Madhepura reported two, while East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran, and Supaul each recorded one fatality.
The Chief Minister also urged residents to adhere to advisories from the Disaster Management Department.Eight Killed in Lightning Strike IncidentsA similar incident happened on 26 June when at least eight people were killed after being struck by lightning in six districts of Bihar.
The deaths were reported in Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria districts, the official said.
Bhagalpur and Munger districts have reported two deaths each, followed by one death each in Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria districts, according to the CMO statement.
