NIA Raids Multiple Locations in Jammu and Kashmir for Terror Funding Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of raids across eight locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. These raids are part of an ongoing investigation into a terror funding case. The NIA, working in conjunction with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), conducted operations in seven areas in Kashmir and one in Jammu.
Focus on Suspected Terror Networks
The targeted locations for the raids included Shopian and Baramulla, among others, encompassing both residential areas and suspected hideouts of individuals linked to the case. These raids follow the recent arrest of an individual involved in a Pakistan-backed terrorism case, which included the delivery of weapons to militants in Kashmir via drones.
Recent Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
On November 27, the NIA Jammu Branch arrested 22-year-old Zakir Hussain from Kathua district, marking him as the eighth accused in the case. The case, initially handled by Kathua Police, was taken over by the NIA on July 30 last year. Among the seven previously arrested suspects, one died due to cardiac arrest in judicial custody, and two Pakistan-based operatives are currently absconding.
NIA’s Efforts to Counter Terrorism
The NIA continues its rigorous investigation to uncover the broader conspiracy behind Pakistan-backed terrorist groups’ efforts to instigate terror and violence in the Kashmir valley and other parts of India. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to dismantle terror networks and funding channels that pose a threat to national security.
