    The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Guwahati, achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling an inter-state drug trafficking gang and confiscating 7.198 kg of Methamphetamine. This successful operation led to the apprehension of five individuals by the Guwahati Zonal unit.

    A senior official from NCB Guwahati explained that meticulous surveillance and credible information enabled the identification and subsequent crackdown on an inter-state syndicate involved in trafficking Methamphetamine from Silchar, Assam, to Cooch Behar, West Bengal. The NCB team intercepted the individuals at the Sonapur Toll Plaza in Kamrup (Metro) district while they were en route to Cooch Behar in a car. Upon inspection, the NCB team discovered 7.198 kg of Methamphetamine concealed in black plastic packets stowed inside two backpacks beneath the front seats of the vehicle.

    The apprehended individuals were identified as Jobed Ali (Cooch Behar, West Bengal), Sanju Choudhury (Baksa, Assam), Babla Miah (Cooch Behar, West Bengal), Fatik Ali (Barpeta, Assam), and Nabibur Rahman (Barpeta, Assam).

    According to the NCB official, the contraband’s source was traced to Silchar, Assam, while its intended destination was Cooch Behar, West Bengal.

    This successful interception signifies NCB Guwahati’s effective crackdown on the illicit drug trade, underscoring the bureau’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and maintaining law and order in the region.
