NC Youth Leader Basharat Hussain Submits Memorandum to DC Doda Over Poor Mobile Connectivity in Marmat
Doda, Feb 19: Residents of Revenue Village Sarak and adjoining areas in Tehsil Marmat have urged the district administration to improve mobile network and internet connectivity in the region.
A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Doda by Basharat Hussain, Youth President of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference Block Marmat, on behalf of local residents.
The representation stated that several habitations — including Mangota, Behota, Prabble, Mothi and nearby areas — are facing severe connectivity issues despite the presence of mobile towers operated by Airtel, Reliance Jio and BSNL.
Residents alleged that although towers have been installed, internet speeds barely exceed 2G levels. In many parts of Panchayat Sarak, internet services are reportedly almost non-existent, and even voice calls frequently drop or fail to connect.

Describing the area as far-flung and hilly, the memorandum highlighted that weak digital infrastructure has left residents cut off from essential services. Students, job seekers, beneficiaries of government schemes, and individuals relying on online education, healthcare, banking and official portals have been particularly affected.
“In the present digital era, where much of the country is benefiting from 4G and 5G services, our area appears to be living nearly 20 years behind,” the memorandum stated, adding that despite paying regular recharge charges, residents receive substandard services.
Through Basharat Hussain, the residents have appealed to the district administration to facilitate the installation of new and upgraded mobile towers or enhance the existing infrastructure to ensure reliable network coverage across all habitations.
The locals have expressed hope that authorities will take prompt action to resolve the longstanding connectivity challenges in the area.
