He pointed out that the National Conference has spearheaded significant initiatives, such as allocating 50 percent of seats in medical colleges across Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, to create opportunities for girls in the medical profession.Despite these positive strides, Sadhotra expressed concern over the reversal of progressive measures taken during National Conference-led governments.
He criticized the BJP for nullifying Article 370 and dividing the vast Princely State, lamenting that such actions robbed the people of their special identity. Sadhotra viewed these moves as a severe blow to the cultural, identity, and ethos of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, warning that uncertainty looms over the region’s residents.Sadhotra accused the BJP of arrogance, alleging that the party denies the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding statehood and elections in Parliament.
Cautioning against testing the patience of the peace-loving populace, he called for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, with a constitutional guarantee for the rights to land and jobs for permanent residents.
In conclusion, Sadhotra urged National Conference members to revitalize the party at the grassroots level, believing that the combination of youthful energy and the seasoned experience of senior colleagues would help Jammu and Kashmir overcome its challenges on all fronts.
