NC-Cong Prioritize JK Statehood, Pass First Resolution: Omar Abdullah
National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah announced on Wednesday that the NC-Congress government will prioritize the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He stated that the first cabinet meeting, following the government’s formation, would pass a resolution aimed at pressuring the central government to restore statehood. This resolution, Abdullah mentioned, would then be taken to the prime minister for further action.
Omar Abdullah emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood should be restored to its pre-2019 status. He pointed out that both the Prime Minister and other key ministers had promised the restoration of statehood. The need for friendly relations between the state government and the Center, Abdullah said, is essential to resolving the region’s issues more effectively.
He further noted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir voted not for conflict, but for development. They want solutions to pressing concerns like unemployment and electricity issues. According to Abdullah, the National Conference aims to focus on these developmental goals once the government is in place.
As part of the preparation, Abdullah revealed that the National Conference will convene a meeting of its assembly members on Thursday to initiate the process of forming the new government.
