Nawaz Sharif Returns to Lahore, Addresses Supporters on Economic Concerns
Addressing a massive crowd of supporters at the Minar-e-Pakistan rally in Lahore, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif expressed his concerns about Pakistan’s economic situation. He highlighted the high inflation and low foreign exchange reserves, comparing the prices of essential items like roti and petrol from his tenure in power to the present. He questioned whether his ousting was justified and asked the public for their opinion.
Economic Woes Predating His Ouster
Nawaz Sharif clarified that the current challenging economic conditions weren’t solely a result of his brother Shehbaz Sharif’s government but traced back to a long time. He also waved two copies of electricity bills, one from his tenure and another after his ouster, to emphasize the changes that had occurred.
Nawaz Sharif expressed his appreciation for the loyalty of his supporters and the love he received from the public. He recounted the sacrifices he and his party endured, facing fake cases and accusations, but noted that his supporters never abandoned the PML-N flag.
Emotional Connection and Painful Losses
The former Prime Minister mentioned that he had lost his mother and wife to politics and shared the emotional pain he experienced. Despite repeated requests while in jail, he couldn’t pay his final respects to his family members. He also reflected on the challenges he faced during Pakistan’s atomic bomb launch.
PML-N Leader’s Historic Return
Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan was a historic moment for the PML-N, and party supporters prepared a grand welcome for him. Party leaders and workers from all over the country gathered in Lahore for the rally at the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan.
