Nawaz Sharif Participates in Voting Process at Model Town Lahore
Amidst the ongoing general elections 2024, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), exercised his voting right at a polling station located in Model Town Lahore, as reported by ARY News. Accompanied by his daughter and PML-N senior organizer Maryam Nawaz, as well as IPP candidate Aun Chaudhry, Sharif urged voters to reject abusive and intolerant politics, emphasizing the importance of a free and fair electoral process.
Addressing inquiries about the possibility of a coalition government, Nawaz Sharif firmly dismissed the notion, stating, “don’t even mention the word coalition government.”
Prior to Nawaz Sharif’s participation in the electoral process, former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif cast his vote at a polling station in Lahore’s NA-128 constituency. Speaking to the media after voting, Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements and emphasized that the fate of Pakistan rests in the hands of its citizens. He further extended a message of unity, stating that if provided with the opportunity, they would collaborate to rebuild Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party’s Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari exercised her voting right at a polling station in NA-207 Nawabshah, the hometown of the Zardari family. This election holds significance for former President Asif Ali Zardari, who is contesting from the NA-207 constituency.
Other notable figures, including former information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb of the PML-N, caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and MQM-Pakistan’s central leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, also participated in the electoral process at various polling stations across the country.
Polling, which commenced at 8 am, is slated to continue uninterrupted until 5 pm, allowing more than 128 million registered voters to select their representatives for the national and provincial assemblies. The outcome of these elections is poised to shape Pakistan’s political landscape for the next five years amidst an atmosphere of unpredictability
