Navy Chief Reviews Agniveer Passing-Out Parade
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar took part in the passing-out parade of the third batch of Agniveers at INS Chilika, marking the successful completion of training for around 2,600 Agniveers, including women, who underwent rigorous training.

In a press conference following the parade, Admiral R Hari Kumar praised the performance of Agniveers in marksmanship and weapons training. He emphasized their high motivation and confidence, noting their eagerness to serve. Additionally, he highlighted the dedication of women Agniveers, noting their lower dropout rates compared to male counterparts.
Speaking about the Indian Navy’s plans for another aircraft carrier, Admiral Kumar mentioned the need for better infrastructure to support a larger carrier. While initially planning for a 67,000-tonne carrier (IAC-II), the focus has shifted towards building an aircraft carrier similar to Vikrant, with enhanced capabilities enabled by new technology.

“The Cochin Shipyard has the capability to build a similar class. So we are thinking of a repeat order to build an aircraft carrier like Vikrant. Moreover, new technology has arrived. We can now launch unmanned aircraft from this aircraft carrier and drones for surveillance,” the Admiral explained.
The passing-out parade not only symbolized the completion of training but also showcased the dedication and readiness of Agniveers to serve the nation. The Navy’s strategic plans for enhancing its fleet underscore its commitment to leveraging technological advancements for maritime defense.
