Myanmar Junta Sentences Three Brigadier Generals to Death
Myanmar’s junta has reportedly sentenced three brigadier generals, including the commander of Laukkai town, to death.
They had surrendered with hundreds of troops to ethnic minority fighters last month, handing over a strategic town on the Chinese border.
The surrender in Laukkai, one of the biggest losses for the military in decades, led to public criticism of the junta.
The three generals were taken into military custody last month, and now they face the death penalty under Myanmar’s military law for leaving their post without permission.
