The unfortunate incident transpired when individuals, having retrieved an old mortar shell from a forested area, were tampering with it in the Sumb region, resulting in a sudden explosion.

The injured individual has been promptly admitted to the hospital for medical attention, as confirmed by the local police.

Samba’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Benam Tosh, emphasized that this incident is linked to the risky activity of handling a mortar shell obtained from a nearby forest area. He also noted that a similar incident had previously occurred in the same area.

The SSP stated that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, shedding light on the dangers associated with handling such hazardous materials.
