BJP’s Call for Action
The BJP demanded that the Congress take action against its state unit chief for his offensive language. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar didn’t mince words when responding to derogatory comments made by Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and himself. Taking to social media, Khattar conveyed a resolute message, asserting that the people of the state would deliver a befitting reply to the Congress.
In a statement, Khattar remarked, “The party steeped in nepotism and people enslaved by the mentality of nepotism will not be able to understand that Honorable Prime Minister, I consider 140 crore people of the country and 3.25 crore people of Haryana as my family. It is not me but the people of our family who will answer to Congress…”The controversy ignited when Udai Bhan, the Haryana Congress chief, used abusive language in a viral video targeting both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.
This sparked outrage among several BJP leaders who promptly called for an apology from the Congress. Haryana BJP chief OP Dhankhar stated, “It was an unfortunate statement. The Congress should apologize. It should feel shame.”However, Udai Bhan remained unapologetic, defending his comments as “Haryanvi slang” and not abusive. He insisted that he had spoken the truth and that his remarks were consistent with the normal language used in Haryana.
The BJP intensified its demand for action against Udai Bhan, emphasizing the need for accountability within the Congress party. Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the Congress’s history of using derogatory language against the Prime Minister and his family, describing it as “below-the-belt” politics. He questioned whether the Congress would take any action against its state unit chief, who represents the official voice of the party in Haryana.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the intense political divisions and confrontations that continue to persist in the Indian political landscape.
