Defence Ministry Inks Five Key Contracts for Strategic Advancements

Recently, the Ministry of Defence executed five major capital acquisition contracts amounting to Rs 39,125.39 crore. These contracts, exchanged in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, encompass significant agreements with key players in the defense sector.

One of these crucial contracts involves Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the procurement of Aero-engines for MiG-29 aircraft, reinforcing the country’s aero-engine capabilities. Additionally, Larsen and Toubro Limited secured contracts for the procurement of Close-in Weapon System (CIWS) and High-Power Radar (HPR), contributing to advanced defense systems. Moreover, BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited secured contracts for BrahMos missiles and a Ship-borne BrahMos system, reinforcing the country’s defense capabilities while promoting self-reliance.

These strategic deals are poised to fortify indigenous capabilities, curtail foreign exchange expenditure, and diminish reliance on foreign-origin equipment manufacturers. The contract values, ranging from aeroengines to advanced radar systems, underscore the nation’s commitment to bolstering its defense infrastructure and fostering self-sufficiency.
