Man from Madhya Pradesh Arrested for Issuing Death Threat to Bageshwar Dham Head

The Chhatarpur police in Madhya Pradesh collaborated with Interpol to apprehend an individual responsible for sending death threats via email to Bageshwar Dham chief, Dhirendra Shastri, as confirmed by the police on Sunday.

The accused, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was captured in Patna, Bihar, after demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.

Reportedly residing in Bihar’s Nalanda district, specifically in the Shankardih area, the accused utilized a fake email ID to send the threatening message to Bageshwar Dham’s official email ID.

The incident prompted the Bamitha police station to register a case on October 20, 2023, under Sections 387 and 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified offender.

Subsequently, on October 22, 2023, another threatening email from the same individual was received.

Tracking the IP address associated with these messages, the police, with Interpol’s assistance, successfully traced and apprehended the accused.

An investigative team, led by Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi, included Additional Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh, SDOP Khajuraho Salil Sharma, Bamitha Police Station-in-charge Inspector Jaywant Kakodiya, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Pandey, and Chhatarpur Cyber Cell-in-charge Sub-Inspector Sidwarth Sharma, to diligently probe the matter.

The collaboration between local law enforcement and Interpol underscores the commitment to swift action against threats and cybercrimes, ensuring the safety and security of individuals targeted by such malicious activities.
