Man Arrested in Rajouri:Resident Offends Religious Sentiments with Social Media Video
A resident of Samna Mal in the Kotranka sub-division of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, Mohammad Yasir, has been arrested and detained on charges of offending the religious sentiments of a specific community. According to a spokesperson for the police, Yasir allegedly created and shared a video on a social media platform, which was deemed to be sensitive and had the potential to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the area.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Yasir, son of Mohammad Aslam, posted a video on social media that offended the religious sentiments of a particular community,” the spokesperson stated. “The content of the video had a high potential to disturb the peaceful coexistence in the region.

In response to this violation, the police took immediate action by registering a case under FIR 123/2023, invoking sections 153A, 295A, 505(2) of the IPC, and section 67 of the IT Act at the Kandi police station. Yasir was subsequently apprehended and placed behind bars.Amritpal Singh (IPS), the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Rajouri, emphasized that maintaining order and peace in society is the top priority for law enforcement.
He underscored that such actions have no place in a harmonious society. SSP Singh noted that law enforcement agencies have consistently warned individuals to comply with regulations and refrain from sharing sensitive content that could disturb peace and order.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against unlawful acts, SSP Rajouri affirmed that stringent actions will be taken in accordance with the law against anyone engaging in such activities. The statement emphasized the commitment of the authorities to ensuring the safety, harmony, and well-being of the community.
