
LoP Rahul Gandhi Slams Police Action Against Students at Jantar Mantar; Supports for Education Reforms
New Delhi, July 20, 2026 [VoM News]: Lashing a heavy critics against the central govt on the police action against the protestors, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the saying the use of tear gas and lathi-charge against demonstrators was undemocratic and are contrary to India’s democratic values.
As the Delhi Police resorted to tear gas and batons to disperse the protesting students as they attempted to march towards Parliament.
The protesting students were demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including question paper leaks and technical glitches.

While taking to social media, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said the protesting students were peacefully demanding their rights and crictices the action.
While accusing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being anti-youth, Rahul Gandhi have called a fair, transparent and accountable education system.
Renowned avtivist Sonam Wangchuk made his presence in the protest and gained momentum, however was shifted to hospital on Saturday, ending his 21-day hunger strike in support of the student movement led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
Meanwhile, the two representatives of CJP have met with Union Minister J.P. Nadda and submitted a memorandum seeking Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and reforms in the examination system.
Minister Nadda confirmed the meeting describing it as cordial, and made an appeal to protestors to end their sit-in, while, CJP, said its protest would continue until its demands receive a concrete response from the government.
