Lalu Prasad Yadav to Appear Before ED in Land for Job Scam Probe
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo, Lalu Prasad Yadav, is set to appear at the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) office on Monday in connection with the alleged Land for Job scam. The RJD accuses the BJP of politically targeting rivals through government agencies, emphasizing that it is not an ED summon but a BJP summon. The BJP, now part of the state government, asserts corruption within the RJD and urges Tejashwi Yadav to disclose the system leading to quick wealth accumulation.
BJP Claims Deep-Set Corruption in RJD; Lalu Yadav Accused in Land-for-Jobs Scam
Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chowdhary contends that corruption is deeply rooted in the RJD, characterizing Lalu Yadav as corrupt. The alleged Land for Job scam involves charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and others. The scam, during Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister (2004-2009), alleges land transfers in exchange for railway jobs, with lands owned by candidates transferred to Lalu’s family at below-market rates.
CBI Chargesheet Filed; ED Investigating Money Laundering Aspects
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed charges in October against Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and others in the land-for-jobs scam. The CBI asserts that individuals were recruited as substitutes in Railways’ Group D posts, regularized after their families engaged in land deals. The ED is simultaneously investigating the money laundering aspects of the case.
