Kulgam-Police Seizes Notorious Drug Peddler Property in Ongoing Crackdown
In its ongoing efforts to crack down on drug-related activities, the Kulgam Police has taken decisive action by attaching an under-construction house situated on 10 Marla of land with survey No. 622. The property is associated with Barkatullah Mir, son of Mohd Abdullah Mir, a resident of Buchroo, Kulgam, and a notorious drug peddler. This action has been executed under section 68-F (2) of the NDPS Act 1985.
The identification of this property as unlawfully acquired stemmed from an investigation/enquiry conducted by the Kulgam Police. Preliminary findings indicate that the property was obtained through illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by its owner, Barkatullah Mir. Notably, Mir is implicated in Case FIR number 69/2021 at Police Station Kulgam and FIR number 03/2018 at Police Station Yaripora.
This move underscores the Police’s unwavering commitment to combat the pervasive issue of drug abuse. The local residents of the area have expressed appreciation for the Police initiative, specifically in attaching immovable property linked to the drug peddler, which was allegedly funded or utilized through illicit drug trade.
