Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, lambasted the Shehbaz Sharif-led Pakistan government for the steep rise in electricity prices and enduring load shedding, emphasizing the urgent need for settling the province’s dues. Speaking at a press conference in Dera Ismail Khan, CM Gandapur vehemently protested against the unjust burden of high electricity rates borne by the people of KP.
Highlighting the economic strain, Gandapur revealed a staggering deficit surpassing Rs 450 billion and urged the federal government to fulfill its obligation by clearing KP’s outstanding dues. He underscored the significant disparity in electricity rates, soaring from 15 PKR to 65 PKR per unit, while calling for accessible energy solutions to alleviate the financial burden on citizens. Gandapur’s stern warnings of potential legal action and a march towards Islamabad underscore KP’s unwavering determination to reclaim its rights from the federal government.
