Kashmir-Valley Shrouded in Dense Fog and Freezing Temperatures, Weather Set to Persist Until Year End
Widespread dense fog persisted across various regions of the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday, accompanied by temperatures dropping below freezing at all stations throughout the Valley.
The Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, indicated that there were no anticipated weather changes until December 31st. Dr. Ahmad noted that the prevailing foggy conditions in the mornings would persist over the next several days until the end of the month.
Furthermore, nighttime temperatures continued to dip below freezing across the Valley, with Pahalgam registering the lowest temperature at minus 4.7 degrees Celsius.
As per data compiled by the Meteorological Department, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir, experienced a chilling night at minus 3.0 degrees Celsius. A similar temperature of minus 3.0 degrees Celsius was recorded at the Qazigund station in South Kashmir.
Gulmarg, renowned for its ski resort, reported a low temperature of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius. Moving to north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a minimum temperature of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag in the southern region documented a low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius.
The prevailing weather conditions, marked by dense fog and sub-freezing temperatures, are expected to persist until the close of the year, according to meteorological forecasts.
