Seated alongside Vanga, Johar declared the movie as the standout film of the year, emphasizing its transformative impact on the industry. Speaking at the roundtable, Johar shared, “Animal is a game-changer. It’s the best film of the year. People have compared it to ‘Rocky Aur Rani’ as if it’s a vaccine for a film like Animal. However, I strongly disagree because Animal, for me, is unparalleled this year. Expressing such views takes time and courage, especially in a group setting where fear of judgment looms. Similar apprehensions were present during the time of ‘Kabir Singh,’ a film I also loved, but now I don’t care about receiving judgmental looks.”

Johar delved into the reasons behind his admiration for the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, praising its bold and conviction-driven storytelling. He commended Animal for breaking away from mainstream cinema norms, defying conventions, and presenting a narrative that challenges expectations. He shared, “I saw the film twice – once as an audience member and the second time to analyze it. The success and acceptance of Animal are revolutionary. The film’s conviction is something I aspire to achieve.”
