    VOM NEWS DESK, APR 21: As per Reuters Report, Apple has named longtime executive John Ternus as its next chief executive officer.

    This develop marked a major and significant leadership transition as the company prepares for the rapid changes which are driven by artificial intelligence.

    John Ternus will take over from Tim Cook on September 1, as Cook is all set to move into the role of executive chairman after leading the company since 2011.

    A veteran at Apple, Ternus joined the company’s product design team in year 2001. By the passage of time, he rose through the ranks to become the vice president of hardware engineering in 2013.

    John Ternus was elevated to Apple’s executive team in 2021 as senior vice president of hardware engineering, to oversee the key product lines.

    As he has been closely involved in the development of major devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and AirPods, and is credited with helping revive growth in Apple’s Mac business in recent years, making him a valuable asset.

    Most recently, John Ternus played a leading role in unveiling the redesigned iPhone lineup, signaling Apple’s continued focus on hardware innovation amid increasing competition.

    Before joining Apple, Ternus worked as a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

    At an age of 50, Ternus will assume the top role at a time when Apple faces intensifying competition and an industry-wide shift toward AI-driven technologies.
