Congress Highlights Commitment to Protecting Common Man’s Interests
Vikar Rasool Wani, Chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), emphasized the Congress party’s commitment to protecting the interests of the common man and ensuring their participation in various spheres of life. He criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for imposing heavy taxes and causing price hikes during its rule, especially affecting the poor, unemployed, and daily wage workers.
Wani outlined the Congress’s plans to undo the perceived wrongs of the BJP government and introduce people-friendly policies in Jammu & Kashmir to provide relief to the disadvantaged and the poor.
He also highlighted the Congress’s historical role in uplifting oppressed sections of society, such as the introduction of reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in jobs, admissions, and legislatures. The Congress’s efforts towards ensuring equality through the Constitution and its initiatives like 33 percent reservation for women, including SCs, were noted.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand pointed out the Congress’s contributions to political empowerment at all levels, including Panchayats, and expressed concern over the BJP’s alleged attempts at creating divisions for political gain.
Working President Raman Bhalla criticized the BJP for imposing heavy taxes, causing price rises, and promoting anti-poor policies. He also highlighted the election of senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge as the President of the Congress party.
The event featured several senior leaders who emphasized the Congress’s commitment to protecting the interests of the common man and empowering disadvantaged sections of society.
