JKNC VP Omar Abdullah accuses Amit Shah of misleading statement on AFSPA revocation
Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of JKNC, emphasized the need for prompt action regarding the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and troop withdrawal from Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that any further delay in this matter was unnecessarily.
Abdullah highlighted that when the Government of India declares the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as normal and claims that militancy and separatism have ceased, there is no justification for delaying the removal of AFSPA. He expressed his belief that there is no need for further delay in this regard.
Misleading Statements on AFSPA Removal
Abdullah criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on the removal of AFSPA as misleading. He mentioned that he has been waiting for this day since 2011 and that deceptive tactics were being used with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, similar to those employed with the people of Ladakh regarding the restoration of Statehood and the sixth Schedule.
In an interview with Gulistan News, Shah acknowledged that the government would contemplate revoking AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir in the future. He mentioned that considering the improving situation, the government is promptly considering the possibility of revoking AFSPA, indicating a potential change in the state of affairs.
