JKLCU Seeks Minimum Wage Law, Pensions for Retired Lamberdars, Chowkidars
Doda: Jammu & Kashmir Lamberdars and Chowkidars Union (JKLCU) Chairman Mukesh Parihar meets DC Doda and requested him to hold one day convention at Town Hall Doda.
DC Doda Sh Harvinder Singh’s conversation with Chairman JKLCU said that Lamberdars and Chowkidars will have to wait till ongoing election will end thereafter you will organize Convention.
The Lamberdars and Chowkidars of District Doda are living in pathetic condition. We get only Lamberdars Rs 1501 and Chowkidars Rs 1500 per month by our government.
As you are aware that under new guidelines any Lamberdar or Chowkidar must know read and write and most of the newly recruited Lamberdars or Chowkidars are highly qualified and as the new technology were introduced in Revenue Department every small and big work goes online.
Due to this improvement in Revenue Department our work becomes very difficult now. Lamberdari and Chowkidari are our prime occupation. We are unable to pay tution fees of school going childrens. We are living in miserable condition said Chairman Mukesh Parihar.
Chairman said that in some tehsil there is pending salaries for months. Most of the tehsils of district Doda have not paid salaries to Lamberdars and Chowkidars for months and even in some tehsils to goes to beyond 1 year.
Some tehsil have 5 months pending salaries, some tehsil have 8 months pending salaries, some tehsil have pending salaries for 1year while in some tehsil there is pending salaries for more than 1 year.
We are demanding that brings us under Minimum Wages Act and also issue Identity Cards to all the Lamberdars and Chowkidars, provide monthly pension after retirement to any who retire at the age of 60 years.
