JK Police Cracks Down on Illegal Mining in Kishtwar: 7 Vehicles Seized
Kishtwar, Aug. 10, 2024 – In a decisive action against illegal mining, the District Police Kishtwar has seized seven vehicles involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals. The confiscated vehicles include five tippers and two Mahindra pickups, all used in violation of mining laws.
The crackdown followed specific intelligence on illegal mining activities in the district. Acting on this information, a checkpoint was established by SHO PS Kishtwar, under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kishtwar at Shalimar, leading to the seizure of the vehicles involved in the illegal trade.
SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, issued a stern warning to those engaged in illegal mining, urging them to cease their activities immediately. He emphasized the police’s commitment to stringent action against lawbreakers and encouraged the community to report any illegal mining activities. The police assured that strict legal measures would be taken against offenders.
This proactive approach underscores the J&K Police’s unwavering commitment to preserving the region’s natural resources and upholding the law. The police remain vigilant and determined to protect the environment and ensure that all activities within the district comply with legal standards.
